  • Condition: I have not been able to find one anywhere on the internet with this coloring. Most have blue hulls. There were some that had white hulls, blue tops with red turrets. There were even some that had different gun/turret configurations. This is a neat, vintage Ideal toy boat from the 1950s or 1960s. This one has all its wheels on the bottom. There are two wood torpedo ? weapons. There are no depth bombs. Some of the gun turrets have partially snapped off guns. The depth bomb holder / dropper in the rear of the ship has snapped off pieces on their rear outer edges. I believe those were originally like little gates that held the bombs. Please see pictures 8 and 9. There is something rolling inside the hull. I have no idea what it is? There doesn't appear to be anyway to open it. The DD-878 has all four wheels on its bottom. I do not know if anything else is missing. If anyone does know, or if you feel I have made a mistake, please contact me and I will post it to the listing.

    I have not been able to find this color Ideal I-4706 US Destroyer with white hull, blue top and white turrets anywhere on the internet!
    Please don't forget to look at all the pictures to super size for the best visual description and read the description area above.  It is a vintage toy and it does have signs of use and wear.  There are some pictures with a ruler for approximate size. The pictures were taken outside in full daylight and may appear a little lighter than the actual toy.
