This was my handset for my entire career as an electrician.  Why carry one if you don't do data?     When working an electrical renovation, I could tap into any phone outlet to call the girl-friend that got sent back to Russia or the one in Mexico to tell her I was on my way.    They are especially handy for finding the correct incoming line on a job site or office job with a spaghetti wiring system.  A good trick....NYC...you hook it up to a couple of screws, get a dial-tone and immediately punch in #958 and the phone company comes on the line and tells you the number you are calling from.   Or stranded in Montana you can stand on your horse's saddle and reach the phone line on the pole, and call for an emergency air drop of beer and BBQ sauce while waiting out the snowstorm.  You don't have to look for a payphone.  (They're called Quarter-horses" cause they usually have change.)   Enough!   Have fun with it.  Don't show it to your teenagers.
