Be ready for Oktoberfest, Cosplay events...or even Halloween! This is a
high quality
(not cheap costume stuff) vintage dirndl. I am thinking it is from the 70s or 80s at the latest since it belonged to my mother who is long passed 14 yrs ago and she had it for at least 20 years.
The Dirndl:
The dress is in great condition, always stored well away from light so there is no fade, no tears, stains or sign of wear. The dress is brown with beautiful, brightly colored embroidered (machine done) motifs around the neckline and then in spots along the skirt bottom.
Zippers down to waistline to make it easy to get in and out of, but the zipper is barely noticeable (pewter buttons could be added and lacing put over top for a different look once zippered closed. There is no boning. The bodice portion is fully lined beautifully in a cotton white and pink print.
The Half Blouse: (bonus item, being included)
This is a white cotton, also same size and it has beautiful lace at the short sleeved edges and a fitted gathered neckline (not elastic). The blouse unfortunately at some point got some cuts/holes in the back of it. There is also some very slight yellowing under the arms. See photos for details. When worn with the dirndl dress the holes on back do not show (see back photo of outfit). The bottom of the blouse has elastic in the casing making it easy to get on and off but also very comfortable.
The label says the dirndl is 87% polyester, 33% viscose (here is what I found for a description:
Viscose is a semi-synthetic type of rayon fabric made from wood pulp that is used as a silk substitute, as it has a similar drape and smooth feel to the luxury material. The term “viscose” refers specifically to the solution of wood pulp that is turned into the fabric. Viscose was first produced in 1883 as a cheaper, artificial silk.) The dress feels very sturdy but has a nice drape and does not feel "plastic-y" like full poly's do, feels more like a vintage linen table cloth to the hand. There is no apron with this sale.
Other measurements: (size label says 44 (European size) which according to charts translates to a 14 in US size or L.
Dirndl Dress:
Bust: 36"
Waist: 30"
Underarm to waist: 8" (these tend to be worn just above waist as well as to the waist)
Center back of top of neckline to hem edge is 37"
Skirt Length is 26" so i believe on most this would come just below the knee
Please carefully review all photos for details, condition, colors, etc. Again, this is NOT a cheap Halloween knock off, this is the real McCoy! NON SMOKING Household.
