This photo is of Carl Ballantine who began his career on vaudeville as a magician. The photo was taken by the noted photographer and author of magicians, Irving Desfor. The front is signed by Desfor and it is marked on the back as coming from his studio. Ballantine was perhaps best noted for his portrayal of "Gruber" on McHale's Navy. he often did magic and card tricks on the show. The photo itself is mounted on heavy card stock. It measures 21 by 25 inches. The frame is a bit worn at the corners. the picture itself is excellent . It measures approximately 15 by 19 inches. This photo would make a fine addition to any collection of magic memorabilia. Rare large format photograph. Rare piece of magic history.
