Geo. G. Corregan, Jr.-AGFA Film Promotion-1940-Boston area Magician-vFINE--(No Reserve-Bid & the Item Will Sell)
ITEM: This is an AGFA film ad from a large format periodical. It is a photo of George G. Corregan, Jr. He was a Boston area magician. Photo shows in wearing a top hat, shuffling a deck of cards, an ace of clubs flys off to the left, an egg sits in a glass. Not sure of which periodical since it has been neatly pasted down to a card stock backing. The date "1940" has been written lightly in pencil in white area at bottom of page. Corregan also used this for his holiday Season's Greetings card. That is seen in the second image. The Season's Greeting card has been sold. This ebay offering is only for the larger AGFA ad page.
From Magicpedia, courtesy of Genii Magazine:
George "Duke" Corregan
(1897-1971) was a semi-profession club performer.
He was a member of
SAM
(No. 924),
IBM
(no. 41),
IMC
(no. 130) and The
Magic Circle
.
Corregan was charter member of Boston Assembly No. 9, he was an owner, operator and president of Purdy Photographers in Boson.
He produced Assembly No. 9's official bulletin "
The Barnstormer
" and was managing editor for many years. For 20 years, he ran a humorous personal-interest column, headed as "Dear Uncle Koko, Esq." It was years before members realized that the initials of the heading spelled out a clue to the unknown author, "D-U-K-E".
Corregan contributed his magical ideas to the
Sphinx
. His Four Ace Trick, published in 1922 was a favorite of
Ted Annemann
. He also marketed "Be a Human Calendar" and "Unkle Koko's Kloryphyll Kard Trick". He authored a column "Spilling the Beans" in
The Seven Circles
in the 1930s.
