As a key component in the
Pioneer Flash System
, the
S-70 Pioneer Head
is the head included with either the SI or SII kits. The head has the ability to horizontally pivot 270° and tilt 45° in order to direct its 300 Watts/second light output. It may be used as a bare bulb illuminator, or with the addition of an accessory holder or similar attachment, a number of light modifiers may be incorporated into its operation.
The Pioneer head can stop action with a flash duration of 1/800th sec. and can accept variations in power ranging from full to 1/4th power. As an added convenience, there is an audible ready confirmation, and a ready light to inform users as to the status of the flash. There is a hand strap and for added comfort, the tubular body of the lower flash housing features a soft grip. The base has a mount to affix the flash to either a tripod or light stand.
The
S2 (SII) 5.0 Ah Battery
is the larger of the two power supplies available for the Pioneer. It provides about 430 full power flash bursts when fully charged and has a recycle time of 1.9 seconds. Included with the battery is a shoulder strap for comfortably carrying it.
