Biological filtration is used to colonize bacteria so that they break down dangerous ammonia ultimately converting it to nitrite and then converting nitrite to less toxic nitrate.
TRANSLATION: Pond biological media grows colonies of beneficial bacteria that keep your pond water healthy!
Designed for removing solid particles from the water and creating large surface areas on which beneficial bacteria colonize. This filter media can be used by do-it-yourselfers to build their own filters or as replacement media for existing filters. The key to good water quality is proper filtration. Ponds that are under filtered will likely be cloudy, green and unattractive. Likewise aquatic systems that do not have properly sized filters can have high ammonia, high nitrites and low feed conversions.
Once beneficial bacteria are established in your biological media, they are difficult to destroy, except by over-cleaning, using chlorinated water, or using certain medications, such as antibiotics

HOW TO USE THIS PRODUCT:
Bio-Bits are placed inside your ponds biological filter or in or under your waterfall. For best results place Bio-Bits inside a mesh media/ Laundry bag.
TIP 1: Do not allow biological filter material to dry out. Beneficial bacteria colonies that keep your pond water healthy will begin to die when allowed to dry
TIP 2: Only rinse biological filter material in pond water (in a bucket) or with NON CHLORINATED water. Chlorine will kill the beneficial bacteria that keeps your pond healthy.
